Just to taunt the Kiwis (and because I miss them) about the lush snow they are missing I've posted this cute photo of Emily & Chris from last Winter... we've been enjoying perfect skiing conditions in Trondheim and Sjusjøen, a shame Chris'n'Em aren't here to enjoy it with us but they did send some Kiwi poo (chocolate) to fuel the training. Thanks!
It's been nearly two months since my last blog, and I don't seem to have the mental energy to write anything too meaningful now either.. and no exciting maps to show either since I've been on my traditional Winter hiatus from orienteering.
After the New York City marathon I finally took my end of season training break. It was long overdue and I indulged fairly heavily in gluttony, sloth & hard spirits. After two weeks off I didn't think I could manage a third one without needing to see a psychiatrist so I eased back in and the physical training has been progressing nicely. Now I'm moreorless up to a decent training volume with plenty of cross country skiing the last few weeks to make the most of the fantastic snow conditions. I haven't felt much like an orienteering athlete since I've barely looked at a map. Until now I've been using most of my time on work instead of thinking about the coming season.
However, that is all about to change and the road will start to point more towards WOC 2012 in Lausanne next weekend when I'll attack my first training camp of the New Year. My first orienteering since mid-November will be with the British team in Swiss-like terrain in England and I'll probably get my butt kicked by all the upandcoming British girls which will be good motivation for the next training camp/ training holiday, in Turkey!

Flat tracks are a bit more common at Sjusjøen than at home in Trondheim and we saw a bit more of the sun too! Some nice groomed cord. (pics by pyrat)
